Building forms
The builder, screens, text, validation, layouts, preview, versions and organising your forms.
- A tour of the builder Five tabs (Build, Design, Logic, Share, Results), a screens rail, a live canvas and a settings panel.
- Add, reorder, duplicate and delete screens Add questions with + or /, drag to reorder, duplicate with ⌘D and copy screens between forms.
- Edit text on the canvas Click any title, description, button or label on the canvas to edit it in place, and type @ to recall an answer.
- Welcome screens, statements, groups and endings The four screens that aren't questions: a first impression, a note between questions, a titled section and the thank-you.
- Group questions into sections A question group is a titled section; the questions under it are numbered 3a, 3b, 3c.
- Required answers and validation Make a question required, and set lengths, number ranges, decimal places, date ranges, selection counts and text patterns.
- Pre-filled default answers Give a question an answer people start with, and fill it from a hidden field in the link.
- Question references for exports and integrations A reference is a stable name for a question that exports, webhooks, the API and prefill links use, and it survives title edits.
- Change a question's type Turn a question into another type and keep its title, required setting and choices where they fit.
- Add images, video and layouts to a screen Five layouts (centred, stacked, split left or right, backdrop) with an image, a video or a YouTube, Vimeo or Loom embed.
- Preview your form Try the form as respondents will, on desktop, tablet or phone sizes, from the start or from any screen.
- Autosave, undo and version history Every edit saves itself, 200 steps of undo, a warning when another tab changes the form, and every published version kept.
- Export and import a form file Download a form as JSON and create a new form from it, in your account or someone else's.
- Find, duplicate, archive and delete forms The Forms page: search, filter by status, sort, switch between list and grid, and each form's menu.
- Organise forms into projects Projects are folders in the sidebar that keep related forms together, each with an icon and a colour.
