Question references for exports and integrations
A reference is a stable name for a question that exports, webhooks, the API and prefill links use, and it survives title edits.
Every plan
- Select a question and open Group & reference.
- Type a Reference in lowercase letters, numbers,
-and_, or select Use to take the suggestion made from the title. - It must be unique in the form; the builder tells you if another question uses it.
Where references show up
- Webhook payloads and API responses carry
refbeside each answer, so your code can look answers up by name instead of by id. - Pre-fill links use the reference as the URL parameter:
?email=ada@example.com. - Integrations and exports keep working when you reword a question.
Set references before you connect anything, and don't change them afterwards.
